Serving great picnic fare on Wednesday to the Group Mission volunteers. Good food, good company, good weather, good fun, doing good in the Cannon Falls Community. Ed Lorentz grilling skinless hot dogs donated by Lorentz Meats. Jim Hvistendahl serving the dogs on the buffet line then visiting with folks from the Apple Valley Presbyterian Church. The youth had a great time playing games at Hanna's Bend Park.
"Service Above Self" project is underway. A big thank you to everyone who brought in ladders. Austin, a staff member with Group Mission, was busy checking them in. Then on to a welcoming picnic at Lake Byllesby. Becky Brown, Dick and Jane Peterson, and Ruthi Shepard visit over the grill. Roger Lodermeier at the buffet table with folks eating and visiting behind him. Good food and good company. The rain did not dampen the spirits as our project gets underway.
Anna Germer, our exchange student from Sweden, visited with us about her home, home town and her country. Anna has enjoyed her stay here in Cannon Falls where she has made many friends and many memories. We will miss her smiling presence.
Preparation is underway for next week's "Service Above Self" project in Cannon Falls. This morning, Mitch Althoff, handed out paint and supplies for volunteers to deliver to the home sites where painting will be done next week. Melanie and son Luke Hernke loaded their van with supplies to distribute to home owners in the area. There will be 375 out of town volunteers from 10 states helping over 65 local families.
