This morning's meeting was fun and exciting with a special presentation by Yogi Reppmann, a Rotarian from Northfield. Mr. Reppmann has authored many books on German immigrants and is very knowledgeable about the 1848 democratic revolution which led to many Germans coming to America.
He spoke about a recent discovery of letters written in 1932 from Rotary Clubs around the world in response to a peace seeking initiative of the Keokuk, Iowa Rotary Club. Tony Conn, a representative of the Keokuk Club presented Yogi with a symbolic peace pipe in recognition of his efforts to publicize and initiate a similar modern day exchange of letters with clubs from around the world.
Charlie Cogan with the Northfield Rotary Club was also present adding their entire club's support for the project.
President Elect Chuck Schwartzoff chaired the meeting and John Weggman introduced our speaker.
